Do you struggle to communicate clearly and advocate for yourself or explain solutions in ways that actually get heard?
Do you think knowing the “right” thing to say would help you close more deals, sign more clients and build better relationships?
Are you too reactionary in conversations, costing you the promotions, bonuses, and recognition you deserve?
Do you avoid or freeze during conflict, wishing you could handle it confidently without getting walked all over?
Does pressure make you freeze or stumble, leaving you unable to make your points when it matters most?
Do you let people take advantage of you because you can’t advocate for yourself or articulate your value?
Do you put off difficult conversations, allowing small issues to grow into bigger problems?
Well, my friend you have made it to the right place.
Here’s the thing:
Clear, emotionally intelligent communication creates safe, productive workplaces.
The Diplomat’s Toolkit will help you figure out what to say, how to say it, and communicate it clearly so you can get results.
You’ll learn how to say what you need to say to get your point across and create an environment where the other person can hear you.
Most communication courses focus on 1 specific skill, like public speaking and leave you to fill in the rest of the pieces on your own without clear guidance…
The Diplomat’s Toolkit teaches you the foundational skills necessary for successful communication with anyone, anytime, anywhere.
Is The Diplomat’s Toolkit for you?
1. Are you new to the workforce, or starting in a new company or industry?
These are the building blocks and foundational tools you need to set you up for communication success in any industry, niche, or new endeavor.
2. Are you often told your ideas are great, but if you “adjusted your tone” or changed people might be more receptive?
We’re not tone policing anyone here. But what I am doing is sharing tools you can use to help you get your point across and be heard regardless of who you’re dealing with.
3. Do you just want to improve your communication so you can get your point across, regardless of the situation or who you’re dealing with?
I’ll show you four key skills, along with templates, reflection questions, and practice scenarios to help you do exactly that.
Hi, I’m Judnefera Rasayon
I am a former U.S. diplomat, former Kindergarten teacher and communication coach. I’m fluent in French and can greet anyone in Korean, Spanish and Arabic.
When it comes to diplomacy and communication I’ve had a:
• 15+ year career including time in government where I was the U.S. State Department’s point person for King Mohammed VI of Morocco’s visit with President Obama in 2013;
• I served Staff Aide to the U.S. Ambassador to South Korea during the G20;
• Negotiated on behalf of the United States at United Nations global health governing body meetings and at the World Health Organization (WHO);
• Interviewed over 2,000 visa and asylum applicants; and
• Taught 25 Kindergartners at a charter school.
And I’m here to provide you with a roadmap to effective communication that you can follow.
So many people struggling with communication face one (or more) of these problems…
• Unclear communication
• Saying the wrong thing and putting your foot in your mouth
• Being reactionary
• Not knowing how to handle conflict
• Freezing and an inability to communicate under pressure
• Struggling to build rapport
• Difficulty advocating for yourself
• Avoiding difficult conversations
• Trouble disagreeing respectfully
• Not picking up on verbal and nonverbal cues
And in The Diplomat’s Toolkit I show you how to overcome all of these.
So many people believe that successful communication is this natural skill and art that people are just born with.
And to a certain extent that’s true.
Some people are born with it.
The gift of gab.
That ability to make anyone feel instantly comfortable and at ease and start telling them their whole life story.
I’ve been told this is true for me.
But the thing is…
You can learn how to communicate better. To put people at ease. To have conversations that flow more naturally and aren’t stilted or awkward.
It is possible.
But people have a lot of theories about why their communication isn’t working.
And once we get to talking I realize that a lot of their theories are wrong, and they’re making mistakes they didn’t even know they were making.
And one that happens all the time that most people don’t even realize is that…
People don’t listen.
The biggest mistake people make when trying to figure out how to be a better communicator?
Not listening.
So many people focus on what it is they want to say, or the point they want to get across.
But the thing is—you need to listen first. It’s simple, but sometimes it’s the hardest thing to do.
Letting someone finish a thought and not interrupting them.
Listening to what someone is saying, really listening, before offering a response or an answer.
And another thing that happens is….
People avoid conflict.
The second biggest mistake people make?
Avoiding conflict.
They think if they just figure how best to keep the peace and smooth things over then they’ve been successful.
But the thing is, conflict itself isn’t the problem—avoiding conflict is.
Trying to keep the peace and smoothing things over by not actually addressing issues doesn’t work in the long run.
Because the issue doesn’t go away or get resolved if you never address it.
And if you're being honest with yourself and others (which is a key part of successful communication) you won't always agree and then there will be friction and conflict.
And that's okay.
It's how you navigate and address the conflict that matters.
And finally…
People aren’t honest.
The third The third biggest mistake people make trying to become better communicators?
They’re not honest.
They are focusing on how to say the thing, without first examining what it is they want or need to say.
Self-awareness is key for successful communication.
Now, how you say things absolutely does matter.
But it doesn’t matter how well you say the thing if it’s not what you actually want or need to say.
If you’re not being honest about it.
So figuring out what you’re feeling and why you’re feeling that way is crucial.
That way you can say what needs to be said, however it needs to be said.
And the thing is…
You don’t have to keep making these mistakes.
You can communicate clearly and confidently and get your point across successfully.
I’ve done it in a room full of 25 Kindergartners. And I’ve done it in a room full of diplomats.
The concepts aren’t difficult.
But it does take work. And effort. And you have to be very intentional.
I have taken what I’ve learned in the last 15+ years of having difficult conversations with people of all ages and from all walks of life.
And I put all the basics into this course.
